The English Pétanque Association is the National Governing Body for the sport of pétanque in England.

We are officially recognised by Sport England, the International governing body, the Fédération Internationale de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (FIPJP) and the European governing body, the Confédération Européenne de Pétanque (CEP), we are also members of the Sport + Recreation Alliance.

The EPA’s structure of 15 regions means there will be a club near you (see the Regions , Club Database or contact one of the Officers for more information).

Pétanque, sometimes called boules is a sport that is enjoyed by all the family, it can be played for fun in the garden or more seriously up to European and World Championship levels. 

Our members will be happy to welcome you to their club and help you get started.

Men's & Women's Triples Championship
(International Qualifiers)

Following discussions with a number of players, who will be taking part in the Triples Championship, the Management Committee has agreed to modify our competition rules to permit a substitute - full details in (art 4.6) our competition rules


Home Nations Qualifier

41 teams took part in the EPA's Home Nations Qualifier held at Nottingham City PC to decide which 8 teams are to represent us at the Championships in Edinburgh this year, for the full results and the 8 teams click here


CEP Espoirs 2013

Our teams that took part in this years CEP Espoirs Championship Qualifiers are:

3rd Place in the Men's Group C:

  • 3.9 - Observing and complying with regulations of host venues

  • 4.2/4.3 - Triples Champs (Men & Women) all players must be adult licence holders

  • 4.5 - Triples Champs (Men & Women) teams must consist of 4 players
